Katane Palace Hotel

We booked this hotel because we like 4 star facilities like roomservice, bar and restaurant. On booking.com it says that this hotel offers all of the above. When we checked in we considered ordering room service but there was no roomservice menu or number to call in the room. As there was no room service we went to have dinner at the restaurant and we wanted to start with an aperitif. The waiter let us know that there is no bar and they can’t do Negronis, they don’t have campari and they could only offer us a tiny aperol spritz which they charged 8 euros for. When we wanted to charge the dinner to the room the waiter said it’s not possible as the restaurant isn’t part of the hotel?! Anyway the coffee at breakfast is the worst in all of Sicily. The coffee machine is tiny so it runs out of milk constantly and makes loud noises. The loud noise from the empty coffee machine every 5 minutes is kind of annoying because there is no music and that’s the main sound in the breakfast area. The elevators are not 4 stars either. They are tiny and dirty and look like service elevators. You could see staff just walking around drinking coffee in the public area while the guest experience wasn’t great. All in all you should take at least one star off so that people don’t have 4 star expectations. To end with a positive note, the bell boy greeted us nicely and explained us the facilities
